Airetek High Flow Induction vs BMC CDA Kit
Dear All,
I am new to Rennlist and from Singapore. I am keen to upgrade my stock airbox. Would like anyone to share their experience with the Airetek High Flow induction system or the BMC Carbon Dynamic Airbox (CDA) Kit.
Any performance or sound improvement?
Thanks in advance.

Hi...
I know that early on all the air boxes and intake tubes were setting off the check engine light. I don't know if any one ever got more power out of one of the tubes or boxes on a 996. I do have the kit from Fabspeed which is neither...it just cleans up the air by using a smooth hose and get more air into the box by removing a big box inside the intake box...(don't remember what the original intent of the part was but it gets replaced and you get an increased volume inside the stock air box. You notice it after about 4k RPM.....
I'll let others chime in but I'm happy with it not a huge change but it does help and it sounds better too.

Hi Armando,
Thanks for your info. Are you using BMC or K&N filter for the Fabspeed intake?
What is the installation time with this kit? It seems a lot more straight forward compared to the AireTek or BMC since it is using the original airbox.
If you are keen to look at the AireTek or BMC, please refer to the link below.
AireTek intake.

Link to the BMC CDA unit. GO to Porsche and select 996.

I've had the fabspeed one and now the evo intake and the evo IMO is the best one. Less restrictive then wither then the closed loop fabspeed or the BMC. If you do read Import magazines-cone filter designs offer the best breathing. It has yet to trigger the check engine lite and it's gone over 4k miles with it on and been to quite a few DE's. Only concern though is with cone filter elemnt -water maybe a concern but it has gone thru rain and car washes with out a hitch but then again who knows if any engine damage is slowly showing or instantaneous which so far no symnptoms. The BMC looks great but seems like airflow would be more rest4rictive with the amount of tubing(twists) and another thing too is looks more like a closed loop then stock or fabspeed unless they got some sorta water drainage underneath airbox. Also where is the MAF sensor on the BMC? Soundwise-Evo is noticeable all the time with whining(turbine jurgle) at idle and whoooshing sound at full throttle likem the fabspeed. I noticed Fabspeed shows itself between 4200-4500 rpm whereas evo is more linear/smooth. I have a 99 996 so no e-gas so I have hints of surging at constant highway speed going downhill but that's about it. With egas it self corrects the surging. Regards. Mike

Hi Mike,
Does the AireTek intake comes with a Cone Filter supplied? or do you have to purchase it separately? If it comes with one, is it BMC or K&N Cone? Can we fit it with a Cone GT3 cup type?
Thanks.

Phil- contact the folks at www.evoms.com with reference to whether or not the GT3 air filter fits. Cone is K&N and it is purchased separately. Regards. Mike

I'm using the BMC filter....
I'm to the point that I'm not going to get anything else for the intake until I see some Dyno numbers.....It was very easy to put in took all of 20 min (if that).

As far as I understand, the GT3 cup car has a different ECU and utlilises a Manifold Air Pressure (MAP) sensor. The Cup Air Filter is bolted directly to the throttle body and straight into the intake manifolds. A friend of mine has a GT3 in Singapore and the air intake is on the right-hand side of the rear bonnet and does not need a special tubing for air to get into the cone air filter. For 996 Carrera, it is on the left hand side thus we need to channel air to the right side where the filter is positioned. Anyway I have already ordered the AireTEK system and will let you guys know the difference.
Best Regards

The shipment has been delayed by a week. I was promised delivery on the 18 Nov. For a week, I had been asking for a tracking number but had no response. Only this morning, Todd finally replied my email with a tracking number. The filter was finally shipped on the 25 Nov, will keep you informed. I am disappointed.

Received the AireTEK last friday and had it installed on Saturday by the Porsche workshop. Installation is very straight forward and took only about 45 minutes.
ECU adapts to the new intake very easily and the car was idling as per normal. Above 5000 rpm, the air filter gives a sound that is very noticeable. I am happy now.
