riozilla,

Awesome pics, thanks for posting. Those are the clear right? Looks like they match up pretty well to the clear portion of the brake and reverse lights. I think I'll also go with the clear on my black 996; I think the smoked may be too dark, darker than the clear side markers.

Strange......, why has no one yet discovered that the cruise control doesn't work with LED high mount brake light?

I had to add a minature 12 volt relay and wire a 20 watt halogen through the NC contacts so that my cruise control wasn't disabled. Apparently the cruise control is automatically disabled if the high brake light bulb(s) are open.

I was trying to figure out the same thing for my black/black C4S. I was thinking about getting the smoked, thought the clear ones might stand out too much against the black. Your thoughts?

This seems like an important post!

Also, when the wing goes up it covers that light, and there's another red brake light on the movable wing.

For fixed wing cars I would definitely do this mod!

wwest.....What are the specifics of your relay/bulb addition? Where did you place it, and what part numbers or sources did you use??

Erik,

Yeah I am not sure. The smoked third brake light is definitely darker than my clear side markers and the clear is definitely lighter. The smoked may be a good match for the darker portion of the rear lights closer in to the trunk lid but the clear 3rd light seems to match the outer portion of the rear lights. If I had black painted wheels to match my blk 996 I would definitely go with smoked. These are the decisions that plague me! Let me know what you decide and post some pics. If I move on them first I'll do the same.

Gert,

What do you think of the cruise control issue?

This must be a result of the lower impendance of the LED's compared to the normal bulbs. I don't suffer from this issue since my GT3 doesn't have cruise control
