Exclamation Total911 - New Porsche Magazine launches Spring 2005

Total911 Magazine - nothing else matters
Launches Spring 2005

Total911 Magazine is the culmination of a lifetime's passion for the Porsche 911. Ardent Rennlisters Rob Mugglestone, John Francas and Editor, Phil Raby, have created Total911 to provide the Porsche community with the magazine you have been waiting for.

As the title suggests, Total911 is 100% committed to the design icon that is the 911 - from the first to the latest - in as much detail as you can handle.

Total911 will feature photography to blow your mind - the photos we wish we could all take; if only we have the talent, the cars and the locations; above all though, we'll give them space to do them justice.

In-depth articles written by knowledgable, authoratative contributors. No more thin, shallow features about cars that 'corner on rails' or 'look fast standing still'; a readership focused on one model will expect, and be delighted by, articles which go beyond any other 911 feature you'll have read before.

Total911 will be truly 'borderless'. Cars and drivers from the US, Europe and the UK will all feature in the magazine, bringing the best 911's the world has to offer to our readership.

We hope you are as excited about the prospect of Total911 as we are. We are proud sponsors of Rennlist and thought you guys would appreciate hearing about this first.

We are offering a 10% discount to Rennlist members on early subscriptions. If you want to know more, go to www.total911.com .

We'll be adding some preview features to the website soon, some downloadable scrensavers of our best photos and more, so keep checking in now and again for updates.

Lastly, if you have any queries about advertising in Total911, fancy yourself as a contributor or have some fantastic photos you'd like us to feature, drop any of us an e-mail.

Oh, and Merry Xmas!!!

John, Phil and Rob.

Sounds interesting. The price is a bit steep for US subscribers. By my calculation a year will cost about $215 which works out to roughly $18 a copy (if it's a monthly). There should be a better deal for early subscribers, particularly members of Porsche user groups like us, don't you think?

Good luck with the magazine launch. I noticed that although the description says the magazine will cover all models of 911, up to the newest, all the pictures are of older air-cooled models.

I'd be interested in some in-depth coverage of both older and newer models, but not if the emphasis is on "antiques" (just a gibe to you air-cooled guys! ).

We have three mags here in the UK and they are fairly good and the price ain't bad either.
911&Porsche World £3.95 = $8 (cheaper when subscribed)
GT Purely Porsche £3.95 = $8 (cheaper when subscribed)
Porsche Post = free with PCGB membership.

Sometimes it is also possible to get Excellence too.
But what is the cost of a yearly subscription for this mag inc postage to the UK?

Anyway congrats and best of luck with it for the future.
However, I am looking forward to seeing it first before I consider subscribing.
Maybe you would care to send me a promo.

Caf

we will be covering all 911s. We are looking forward to comparing the 997, 996, 993, 964......on our test track. Same driver, similar conditions - should settle a few heated discussions. There will also be more of an emphasis on what we do with our 911s. Not just pics of super light, heavily modded 'ring masters. Can't give away too much detail, but we really want the mag to take longer than 10 minutes to read!!

Bavarian
The exchange is a killer. Printing in the US is a solution that we will look at after the first year - it is only viable if US/Canada circulation is significant. US subs are £79 inc postage, about $150 at current exchange rate (postage is also a killer, as we want to get mags to our US readers within 2 days of UK subscribers. All subscribers will get their copy before they arrivve at newsstands.) . There is a 10% for Rennlist members.

If we thought the mags you mentioned were doing a decent job, we wouldn't bother. 911 & PW features too many 'buy this car for less than £10k', '924 water pump DIY' and 'boxster clutch replacement' features. Too many little black & white ads - just geting a bit thin on content.
GTPP looks great - no denying that. Its just a bit too 'Max Power' for us. Though the latest cargraphic GT3 RS super conversion is interesting to us, and other Porsche nuts, I am trying to be a bit more ambitious with T911 - think of Octane with just 911s in it!
Porsche Post, Pano, Excellence are all good mags too - but again are a little 'distracted'

Anyway, the proof will be in the pudding, and we look forward to blowing your socks off with our first issue!

Hi John, Thnx for the feedback. Where are you based? Your comment "...we want to get mags to our US readers within 2 days of UK subscribers" sounds like you are UK based?

Ooh! pardon me, I read on your web page that you are in fact UK based.
In that case I will certainly give it a blast

Correction: Kirby has "The" 911!

You just have to do a review of his car!

By 911, do you mean pre-1990 cars, and not 993/996/997s?

Steve - all 911s, including 964, 993, 996, 997. We had an interesting discussion a while ago on whether to include or exclude 959 and GT1...

(Edit - sorry, posted as robmug and not as Total 911)
