Coolant Reservoir Leak: Can I drive my car ?
My car just developed what I believe to be a coolant reservoir leak. It leaks fluid onto the frame and down over the left rear exhaust pipe whenI pull into my garage. I live on the top of a hill about 400 foot elevation above the town. This creates some extra heat from the climb. It did not appear to be leaking when I stopped for gas tonight.
Tomorrow is an 100 mile cruise with the local PCA through the Cascades. Will I damage my car if I keep the coolant reservoir full ?
I'll try to get it fixed next week (good luck ?) as there is another event next weekend.

sounds like the common cracked expansion tank. I replaced mine as well as the cap myself. It's extremely simple and quick to do with Loren's tutorial on it. I did it in about 1 hour if even that from start to finish and that was in a poorly lit garage at like midnight! One thing to note if you do it. My drain plug was seized a little bit, but when I found that by inserting an allen socket in the plug and lightly tapping it with a mallet it loosenend it up nice and easily. I got the parts from Sunset for I think 100 bucks or less if I remember right. The stealer wanted over 500 bucks

thanks for the posting the link. It looks really simple to replace the reservoir unlike what I read else where. If this happens to my car, I wiil definitely try to follow the tutorial.

Coolant Reservoir replaced. I employed our local independent Porsche mechanic that most of our local PCA guys use. Great guy that worked for our local dealer for 10 years. My odometer reads 37,308 miles.
Coolant Reservoir: $184.78, 3 quarts Porsche coolant @ 6.97 each, labor to replace leaking reservoir and bleed $ 120, parts shipping $8.77. Total bill $334.46.
I did not go on our local PCA cruise last weekend. However, this weekend we get to be in a show and shine in Portland about 160 miles away.
