Default And out from the back there arose such a clatter.....

OK, I admit it - I stalled my new 996 twice the first day. One time was trying to be really careful about ground clearance going up a drive way for the first time, the other time similarly paranoid going over a speed bump foir the first time. Embarrassing, yes.

Both times when I restarted it there was a horrible set of noises that came from the engine. Knock, ping, clatter until it caught. Almost sounded like valves hitting the pistons. I assume that this was because some of the cylinders had unburnt charge left in them from the stall, and that they knocked on restart. Sound plausible? (Car runs just fine.)

remember, the only way to save face after stalling a sports car is to rev it to redline and drop the clutch.
