Might be old news, but thought I’d post anyway. My son has a 996 in the UK. Just got radio, PCM, or whatever they call it in this gen, upgraded. It’s super nice and apparently developed by the factory. They move AC/heat down and delete the CD player.

Wish they offered this for a 981…

Yeah those are what they call the PCCM+. About 2 grand all in, though you can find imitations on AliExpress that essentially do the same (and IMHO look better) for 1/6th of the money.

Pretty sure there are solutions to add CarPlay to the 981 platform

I might be the only one that doesnt like the PCCM+ it looks outdated and for the price, you can get a newer unit with better options and no *****,

That being said if owners are putting in double dins into 2003-2004 with the anooying most system, I am pretty sure a car play system can go in yours.

Check crutchfield and they will tell you what units fit your 981 https://www.crutchfield.com/car/outfitmycar/mycar.aspx this is only for reference as they have showed that a double din doesnt fit my 996.2 and thats wrong

I'm not a fan either because I'm getting old and I added a back up camera to my much cheaper double din unit.
