Default Momo install - no grounding?

Hey all, my latest project is installing a Momo prototipo steering wheel. All has gone well so far, I’ve used a resistor to stop the airbag light coming on, I’ve got 12v for the horn and the horn sounds either when I tap the wire to the Momo boss or to the steering column.

However, when I turn the ignition on, the horn doesn’t sound. Having got the multimeter out, it seems the steering column stops being grounded when the ignition is on, or even when it’s off and the key is in the ignition. Any suggestions on what’s happening and how to fix it?

The Momo is great and gives me more space above my legs which is fantastic. I’ve just got to sort the horn!

There are two wires from the clockspring into the wheel hub. One is ground that other is for the horn relay. Connect both wires to the Momo button and it will work great. The Momo button I bought had an extra wire included that wasn't attached to anything that is intended to use as a ground wire.

The clock spring is removed as part of the install so that's not an option 🙁
