IMS Solution Installation Cost

I was looking to get an IMS solution installed in a 2004 996 C4S, the shop quoted me $1900 CAD for R&R transmission and and $600 to grind out the bellhousing/install the bearing along with the other parts. I'll be supplying the IMS solution myself. Does this seem like a reasonable price to get it installed?

Sounds reasonable to me from what I have read about others on here. Is it a certified installer for the Solution?

They used to be when I checked in 2021 but it looks like they're not listed on the website anymore. The nearest certified installer would be 3 hours away.

I had this done in Canada in 2018 and can give you details on cost. I also used a previously certified installer. You don't have enough posts to PM tho. LMK how I can provide you more info if you are interested.

I would also consider budget for other things like RMS, AOS, likely flywheel and clutch.

If I added you as a friend, would that work?

What do you think of the costs, am I around that range or a bit higher? The car has 34k kms on it so I don't expect it to need a new flywheel and clutch.

adding as a friend doesn't work. Happy to have a chat with you. I'm in Toronto. Post your contact info if you are comfortable or wait to have enough posts to PM.

Sounds good.

Find a new shop. The engine case has to be notched to accommodate the oil fed line that goes to bearing, not the bell housing. And $600 to notch the engine case is ridiculous. It’s a 30 minute job, tops.

I just did one Saturday using a 13/16 hole saw and power sander took less than 10 minutes.

Double post. PHAT fingers.

$2,500 Canadian is around $1,900 US which sounds reasonable.

I’d be more concerned about their experience working on the 996 and how many IMS Solutions they’ve installed.
To me that’s more important than saving a few dollars and going to the low bidder.

I paid right at $2250 US in labor for IMS Solution, RMS, AOS, Clutch and oil change this time last year at an LN certified installer so that included the pre-certification stuff as well.
