I thought about using my mom's family Tartan, but not sure this would go the best with a black interior

That would be unique (the tartan).

That's kind of a neat idea. My Tartan is a little more subdued and even has some gray in it to match the rest of my interior. Still might be a bit much though.

There's a 944 guy that brings his car with a tartan theme to our local PCA events.

And an e28 buddy of mine went for Tartan in one car.

And full Houndstooth in his other e28.

Those patterns scream 1980's. As such they are fantastically perfect in a 944 or an E28 (or a 928!). I had a Scirocco Mk2 that had blue houndstooth cloth which I thought was perfect for that car.

Any pics of the Scirocco? (And BTW, I think the car I was calling a 944 was actually a 924. Maybe someone more knowledgeable can chime in)

I haven't seen a Scirocco in years, I think they all rusted away here in the Northeast. I Like the tartan and houndstooth in those BMW's.

Yes, that's a 924.

I don't have any pictures of my Scirocco. I sold it in 1989. However I did spy this on on Craigslist a year or two ago that is almost exactly what mine looked like:

My interior was the same shade of blue. Instead of plaid it had blue & white houndstooth check cloth inserts on the seats and door panels.
Oh, I was sorely tempted to buy that Scirocco, but I have four Corrados and two 996's and a first-generation Datsun Z. Scirocco parts are even harder to find than Corrado parts. So I passed on it. Some day I will have another.

Looks like one that I used to have.
I eventually turned it into an SCCA GT3 race car.

I’ve had several Sciroccos.
Here’s my SCCA ITC Scirocco:

make sure it's automotive grade fabric as it will fade quickly if it isn't.
