I haven't even owned my car for a year yet. Sept will make it a full year. Wanted to keep as a place holder for a couple years.
Car has all the maintenance records and very well maintained. It does have a Fabspeed exhaust and the stock was not included. I mentioned in another thread about possible suspension refresh. With miles around 78k, I know I won't necessarily get the money back from the refresh when time to sell, but in the 996 world, is that looked at poorly? Say I go with an Ohlins setup or something, I think that would be seen as a plus? If it was super low miles I could see keeping it stock as being pretty important. But at this point it's really a driver.

Ypu will find from a pure driving standpoint that a well set up 996 is more enjoyable to drive than later model 911's, unless you want nannies and a neutral cushy feel. Newer models are faster and easier to drive, but the 996 is more fun. That's why I have had mine for 19 years. I have driven all of the 911 models after the 996 on the track at speed. They are fast, but not as much fun. I suspect a rebuild engine with 400 HP in the 996 chassis will be very competitive with the newer models. And a boatload of fun to drive. Next 2 years I will find out.

I had the chance to buy a 964 RSA which was an incredibly engaging car to drive. But chose to keep the 996 instead. Same for 2 different 993s. Chose the 996 as well. Something about the 996 platform when it's set up properly. Pure perfection.
Edit Add: the 964 RSA had 15k miles and was going for 45k at the time. I could have sold the 996 for 60k. 993 was going for 37k. Obviously 964 RSA and 993 prices have gone up since then. But, my opinion hasn't changed.
Edit Add: in addition I have driven the 986 and 987 on the track up to 2018 models as well as 911 Turbo S. All incredible cars. Turbo S was so refined and easy to drive on the track that I didn't have to do much work. But none of these cars were as much fun as my 996. Just saying...

I really do love it. It was my intro back into a sporty weekend car after a long (to me hiatus).
I was pricing out ohlins/bilstein coilovers and new control arms/end links/etc, but I suppose I could just swap out new bushings and save a boatload. It's only a street car after all and I highly doubt the other components are damaged.

I suspect the secret to the driving experience of the 996 is due to the LeMans winning headlight design...

If you decide to track it, then the story will change.

Only reason why I considered the aftermarket coils was to bring it down about 0.5-0.75"
I've had other cars with modified suspension and something just feels right about it.
