my bro and i admire him for it took 13 years to become a surgeon. Actually out of us 4 , he had the lowest grades and IQ, was also a little lazy. Anyway Ohio state, part owner of his own practice and according to what I heard an extremely talented surgeon. A bunch of snow birds seek him for their procedures. I’m doing more than fine but my brother is loaded, my firepower can’t even compare to his. To be honest I really don’t know what his Net worth is, I told him Sunday that he should retire and enjoy life, because he really works a lot. Hint he has spent over 2 million dollars in cars over the last 20 years.
Some or most of this is the trickle down effect of supply and demand. New cars are expensive and have a long waiting list due to supply chain issues. This has been pushing people toward the used car market, which causes an increase in cars that are one or two two years old.
Those looking for newer used cars may find themselves priced out of that market, so they look toward a slightly older car, and the market moves down the line with older and older models.
Great if you are selling. Not so good if you are buying like we were. We thought to trade our '06 Cayanne for something new or newer, but prices are just not favorable.
Marv i bought my wife’s 21 mb GLE last Friday. I started saving since I was 8 and investing At 16. Since I wanted to retire by 50, I created my net worth spreadsheet. A car is an asset because it has a value and a liability if you have a loan against it. My wife’s previous car Mb 300 4matic had 48,000 miles but early in 2020 the trade in value was at around $21k, I got $25k for it. I took it to car max and also Texas direct auto prior to taking it to MB. So I actually walked away from the MB dealership last Wednesday when they offered me $23500 for it, my wife was almost in tears. Anyway I took her to a nice Mexican restaurant and after she had 3 margaritas and we had some great food everything was better. This is not my first rodeo buying a car. Anyway the salesman called us Thursday night to accept $25 for the trade. I made him pay because I told him. We spent time with you on Wednesday, now you agree to my terms. So I got the first service for free, a mb amg underarmour polo shirt and a yeti tumbler for my wife for my troubles. I also wanted to trade to the dealer because tax savings ($1562) my car needed service b $800, I needed to inspect the car and also register it. We also got a great deal on a 9,000 mile service loaner, they discounted the price $3,000 from msrp, plus here this dealership has a $5,000 up charge on the GLE right now. The GLE has never been titled so we are the first owner and it is
CPO unlimited mileage warranty and time extension. There are still deals to be had.
Prices definitely have been drifting down over the last few months. There are a handful of C4S's for sale right now at $10k+ less than they would've been in July. I know because I'm one of those who bought one at the top of the market.
Prices are ONLY "correcting" for C4S because the PCA.org market analyst recently added the MY1999 to their recommendation as "collectible 996", along with their longstanding Turbo, GT's, & C4S prediction. Not to mention Hagerty just recently raised it's top market value for MY1999 over $50K+
The 1999 is simply absorbing C4S market share (as it can't touch the Turbo/GT's). IE a ton of people formerly hunting the 4S exclusively, are now hunting MY1999 either exclusively, or in addition to the 4S.
Thus lessening demand for 4S. Understandably then, MY1999 prices are now exploding, and still overall 996 Prices Keep Drifting Up, as it's zero sum

Best deals on everything are right now. It's only getting worse; and on top of all of this, prices of 996 will continue to keep drifting up
New car sales wise, specially the pandemic has changed the ball game probably forever. I own Ford so I follow it. Ford basically wants to do is the build to order model, here currently the dealers are offering you pay what we pay and whatever manufacturer incentives you get to keep. Mary Bara gm ceo said publicly that they would never return to the past inventory levels. The worst was MB, the CFO said we consciously will produce under demand. The pandemic shortage has shown the car companies that they can have pricing power and make a lot more per vehicle and if they are smart they are not going to go back to the old ways. Now, a lot of people in the industry think that by 2030 60 percent of new car sales are going to be direct to consumer, so no middle man involve. I wish I would have bought my car when they were available for less than $15k but that train has passed. I have only look into 996 prices since last December so I don’t have a clue was prices were in 2019. Last night I saw a 99 time capsule, early car 6679 miles factory aero black, $57,000.

Pre pandemic is gone forever. And everything will change a whole lot more than it has. IMO the only constant will be gold, select real estate, and Type 911. All the same thing really. Di drove a 911. So does Albert. In the bank

This is all crazy. I paid $14k for my 2001 C2 coupe in December of 2020. I’m grateful for the deal I got, but if I knew prices would jump so much I might have sprung for a C4S!
At the time it definitely felt like the window was closing on deals like mine, so I was less patient than I could have been
You have a very narrow window of opportunity right now to sell (your C2) high and buy (4S) low (there will still be a significant gap to clo$e, but it will be well worth it!). The recent downward "blip" in 4S pricing is only a temporary shudder from the MY1999 "jump"; 4S will very soon recover and continue its stratospheric rise.
Ultimately 4S will again be the apex wet-sump 996 Carrera collectible; with MY1999 close behind.

seems like a bit of a gamble I’m not sure I want to take!! A gamble on finding the right car and whether or not my wife murders me
i also have some loose ends to tie up on the C2 before I think about moving on. I need to repair the leather on both seats and a few other cosmetic things. I already dumped $13k into it and I want to enjoy it for a while
It's everywhere; 4S took a small "hit" right after PCO.org's video hit YouTube. This stuff moves at the speed of light now. Magnus had already been pushing 1999 hard on IG & Twitter for months remember.
4S is still king of the wet-sumps. Always will be
