You can also ask in the Boxster forum; I think those are the same or similar enough shafts.

sounds like same problem I have now. Mind me asking how much you paid for everything? What made you not go with aftermarket ones?

They were about 660.00USD each and yes, OEM parts.

where did you buy oem Porsche cv axles for 660? I’ve seen them for 908 each and that was the best price.

I paid $20K for my 996 almost 3 years ago.
Since then I’ve spent $5000 on repairs and maintenance (I supplied all the labor) and about $12000 in mods.(Appearance, engine/drive train, suspension, safety, and other)

I've also spent around $15k on my 99 over the past 3 years, which is more than the purchase price. I estimate about $3000 was "have to do", including a Bosch alternator and a set of tires. About $2000 was preventive maintenance. The remaining $10k was mods, including Ohlins coilovers, two sets of wheels including 996.2 GT3 wheels, deep sump kit with guard, RSS lower control arms, LED headlight assemblies, etc. I wouldn't have spent that much money on a normal car.

Since cv axle failure seems rare, maybe consider a set of low mile used take offs from ebay or similar? Probably cost you 400 bux and then id reboot and regrease for another 100.

i did lowering springs to the car. Cost me about 200 and put new wheels and tires on(1,000). Water pump(400). This car isn’t one I plan to turn into a modded car. Just wanted a lower stance and a decent set of wheels. I planned on there being some regular maintenance that’s needed. I know a clutch is coming probably next year. And whatever suspension parts may be leaking or dry rotting like bushings. But if I have to get into the 5k price for maintainence on this car, it’s going to be listed on here. Lol. Just not a car I plan on keeping long and dumping lots of money into.

for instance
https://www.ebay.com/itm/99-Carrera-...sAAOSwNkJZ8STS

good seller btw, and will usually accept 25% off.

i'd rather have a set of used porsch axles with new boots and good grease vs. some reman or offshore aftermarket brands

that’s not a bad deal. I haven’t even looked for take off parts. But that may be a better option and rebuild them.
