Muffler/welding shop in Phila area for Fister style muffler modification?
Anyone know of a muffler or fab shop in the Phila who has TIG welded the stainless cross-over pipe connecting the muffler inlet and outlet?
Fister is obviously the best, however the cost plus shipping appears to be $600 when a local shop might weld them for less than $200.
Thanks in advance.

Call up the local pipe fitters union and ask who has a good small fab shop...
There welding will impress you and everybody that looks under the car..
a decent fitter probably wont take an hour to do both... Failing that, another place
is your local airport antique airplane club.. There's almost always a tig god in that group..

Any reasonably competent muffler shop should be able to do this mod for $100-$150 bucks. I would remove the mufflers and bring them in loose, along with photos from the internet of what the finished product looks like. Having said that, the Fister Modded mufflers are quite nice.

Yes,, any exhaust shop should be able to weld it up,, But just a counterpoint,,
In my experience your not going to get nice welds at generic muffler shops, they only do mig,
and most of them learned on the job... Little technical training, they also use standard carbon steel
wire in their mig which will rust as soon as it gets hot and then wet . You want to find a exhaust shop that is PROUD
of their custom stainless work if you want it done nicely.
I can do my own welding so I'm doing the mod+adding the PSE valves..
My car came with PSE, but PO took it off. But I still have all the wiring..
And the vacuum lines.. I plan on modding it so it stays in quiet mode all the time and
opens when I hit the button..

PDX, I’ve had Fisters on both my 996s. They are as quiet as stock when cruising. Only gets loud when you get on it. And it’s a good loud, nothing obnoxious. Zero drone. You may not need your PSE switch.

Yea but its a button!
Plus I'm considering making the bypass bit a full muffler bypass ,, I think that will be louder.. And not likely tolerable to my wife..
