Unhappy Massive white cloud. Lots of oil in intake.

So doing about 75 mph in the interstate and i see a mass of white smoke from my car. So I head to the side and shut it down and come to a stop, After a minute I try to crank it but it just clicks. So I tow it to my house and i notice that there is no oil leaking but my oil gauge is like 4-5 clicks low. I take off my TB and there is a ton of oil in the intake manifolds and even in my exhaust. Is this a classic AOC issue or do you think there is a major problem. Engine is pulled out now and i will be taking it apart later today. Just fishing for ideas and things to look for.

AOS, and hydro locked from the sound of it. You may have dodged a bullet by it not starting again.

Can a bad AOS really suck in that much oil? Is there anything on an AOS that when i pull it off i will know right away that it was the culprit?

Classic AOS failure. Replace AOS then clean it up, add oil and pull the spark plugs...cycle the engine with the starter to expel oil that reached the cylinders. I would first hand crank the engine after removing the spark plugs to make sure everything is turning correctly.

Oil in your intake is your confirmation. I just went through this a month ago.

Not only AOS directly ... also failing oil
rerurn pump in one of the heads can cause the AOS being flooded and dumping vast amounts of oil in the intake.
mod your AOS get rid of this Achilles heel

Probably not the cause ... if it was, your engine is scrapnelled ... but it was just an example of what else could go wrong to cause the AOS do its magic and inject loads of oil straight in the inlet... kabooom

You seem reluctant in it being the AOS? You're the fourth or fifth person in the past two months to report the classic AOS failure symptoms.

No, not reluctant. I just want to check and overhaul everything i can while the engine is sitting on the floor instead of having to mess with it in the car.

No, I can't see AOC having anything to do with the 996...
However, yes, definitely sounds like AOS. Hopefully you'll get it resolved quickly!

Then, it's a good time to change all those vacuum lines, water pump, RMS, injectors, coolant tank (if original), inspect your Y-cable as they fail too.

Great picture! Albeit, costly.
