I think the owner is a member here. I remember reading a thread or post with that shed in it.

Yeah, the salvage title is a huge negative...especially with no clue as to why.

I think even without the salvage title it is overpriced. Bought my '99 coupe as a non runner 6 years ago for $5K.

Just because he's asking $5 does not mean he won't take less...I bought my 02 for $4K. though he was asking $8K

Just because condition is listed as "salvage" does that mean it is a salvage title for some other reason??

It also has "salvage" for title status. At this point does it matter? It needs an engine.

I always make sure to ask sellers about that rather than just writing off the car. A lot of people think that because the car has a previous accident that was repaired it means the cars is now "rebuilt". It's perfectly reasonable this guy thinks because the engine is blown the car is now a "salvage".

Why get the title changed for a blown engine? I’m guessing there is another story here, generating the salvage appellation.

I think what folks are saying is that the seller may have incorrectly stated that the title was salvage because the engine is blown. Assuming that this is just an engine failure, that obviously would not result in a salvage title unless there was something like a deep puddle and an insurance claim. It could also be that the title is already salvage, which is unlikely if you assume that the car was being driven on the road when the engine blew. Salvage vehicles must be inspected and issued a Rebuilt title prior to re-registration, so if it truly is a Salvage title due to something other than an event that precipitated the engine failure, it would be an odd situation indeed.

If it is Salvage, my guess is that he bottomed out and damaged the engine (oil loss, etc) or it sucked water, both of which could result in a claim that would render the title Salvage.

Repeat post,, but Oregon does a title brand when any accident report is filed,, (Over $2K) or ANY vehicle theft.

I've managed to dodge it a couple times.. First thing is I didn't "buy" the car back, I simply asked them to pay
me their best number and let me handle the repair. The number we settled on was the estimated repair cost, -my deductable.
