Default AOS replacement: OEM equivalent or Porsche?

When it comes to the air/oil separator, is there a difference in quality between OEM equivalent and true Porsche?

Thanks.

I've read elsewhere there is no difference, other than the package the part comes in.

Not sure about this one, I have heard that the URO part may no last as long but ne real statistics on this. Wonder who makes the OEM unit, not Porsche I am sure.

i do know that a lot of parts/components that Porsche uses are made by others and it you buy them from a dealer you are just paying a premium for the Porsche label on a box. A primary one I can attest to is the AC compressor. A coup,e of years ago I had to replace mine. The price from Porsche is $1,663 today. I ordered one from Rock Auto. It was a Denso unit, the exact same model as the one I replaced. I think it was $279!

Don't short change yourself on the AOS. It's under $150. from various places other than Porsche dealerships. I just got one from Vertex for $140.00
Shop around, ebay, Amazon and Rock Auto.

i'm not paying for it - the shop that's doing the work asked me if OEM is ok.

Better yet then, they gave you a choice and you should stick with the best!

Genuine Porsche only and not OEM. The saving is not worth the risk of a redo soon in the future.

If the only difference is the packaging, there is no difference, other than a big markup.

Right?

Porsche AOS- $117 Sun Coast. $ is in the labor, not the part.

Right?
Not in all cases (from what I understand) best you make sure that both parts are indeed made by the same company. In this case, you don't want to do this job twice.
On that note, has this mechanic every done an AOS replacement on an 02 - 05? If not he's in for a big surprise!

This is true -+ if you buy a part from a Porsche dealer it is warrantied for 2 years.
