Default Power steering reservoir upper tank replacement

Guys I want to either replace the upper reservoir or the o ring that the tube attaches too because I have some weeping around where the tube connects to. I’ve tried to search for a diy but can’t locate anything for the 996, only the turbo. Is it as simple as siphoning out the fluid and twisting the upper tank off?

i have also tried to look up the part but it’s confusing as there appears to be an upper and a lower tank? I’m trying to replace the part that holds the cap that checks the fluid level and it says pentosin.

1999 C4 manual cab btw

Siphon it out and undo the twist lock ring. Prepare for spillage unless you are an expert siphoner.

This is the part number in the tank I have off a 2000: 99631422501.

I don't know if the 99 has a different part number, but it may help you identify the part name or help in the search.

One of the many nice things about Rennlist is that there is usually someone (or many someones) that have done the same job and are glad to share what they know.

Cheap trick, Drill powered pump from harbor freight,, they are not really oil rated but I have one I have used for years to pump transmission fluid into my Jeep transmission, I use my cordless drill, moves about 1 quart in 1 minute. I use a piece of the clear vinyl hose and a couple Home Depot fittings to hook it all together.. You have to watch the suction side the hose can collapse, I put a screen door spring inside it to hold it open..
