Default quick fyi in case you have this issue

Hey community, just sharing incase someone else gets stumped over this.

The other day my car started idling rough. Drove fine when I gave it gas or kept the rpms up and over the next couple of days it seemed to progress and started hesitating when I was at cruising rpm's in any gear and the idle became very choppy. last night driving home it would barely stay running. I thought it felt like something to do with air intake and sure enough when I got it home and looked under the hood my idle control valve screws had slowly backed out and it was sucking air.

Just thought some might want this info in there arsenal for trouble shooting.

Thank you for sharing, these kind of tips are very helpful. Any chance you could post a picture of the area that you are talking about?

its a close up pic because I was getting the part number so I could find the gasket but this is on the driver side of the throttle body (1999 cable throttle body) one screw had backed all the way out and got lost and the other was about 1/4 the way backed out. simple fix and easy to over look. with the screws backed out it was still close to the throttle body because other lines were keeping it from pulling away. could be hard to notice with out really looking.

I know I thrive off these info posts when others do them so hope this was a helps someone.

it was my doing lol this past winter when I swapped out for the IPD plenum I took the opportunity to port the throttle body and put on a new idle valve so I most likely forgot to snug them done...oops lol

A little drop of blue locktite would probably help on those bolts/screws. I think I did that after cleaning out the ICV.
