First 911- 2003 C2
So I finally found the right car at the right place at the right time. It's a 2003 991 C2 with 63k miles. Needs IMS/RMS (next year) for my peace of mind, but I am enjoying the hell out of the car now. It is great to drive. My previous performance car was a 2011 M3 Comp. Great car, but there is something special about a 911. It's not as fast probably as the M3, but I enjoy driving it sooo much more. I think I got a smokin' deal on it (15.5K) and it's a two owner California/Oregon/Washington car. No leaks or ticking at idle so far. Pulls hard and is punchy when I'm on the backroads in North Carolina. Love it.
I was planning on getting a 991.2 TTS in couple of years, but I'm so happy and satisfied with this 911, that I'm considering either delaying that or even just forgetting about it. I have so much fun in this thing that I'm thinking do I really need 200HP + more? I guess I'll really make that decision in a couple of years. But that's how good I think the 996 is to me - it's got me reconsidering getting a 991.2!!!

Enjoy! Eventually, you'll lust after the additional horsepower.

Great looking 996. After driving my stock 03 4s for few months, and initially thinking I really need more Hp from a 991 or 996 turbo, I now realize I can have so much fun in the “low” Hp 996. More Hp would only get me in trouble.

Congrats! I picked up an 03 Midnight Blue Targa back in December. Couldn't be happier. Don't delay too much on the IMS/RMS. Also have the AOS checked out or replaced. This seems to be the hot topic these days. I keep moving up the horsepower chain myself. I thought the Targa was pretty fast compared to the VW R32 I was driving. After a few months, I would like some additional HP. Although the more I drive it, and learn the best power curve to drive in, its plenty fast to get you in trouble. I had picked this up as a stepping stone 911 with intentions of upgrading. I think I'll just drive this for a few years before I make that decision.
The members here are a great resource. I was warned about the snobby Porsche forum folks. The opposite has been my experience. What a great group of helpful knowledgeable people.

I agree. Now, pulling away from the stoplight, I’m thinking “is this it?”. Horsepower or firepower, you ALWAYS want more.

Seems like a really good deal to me. You see cars with a lot more mileage in that price range.

Congrats! Just bought a speed yellow 03 myself. Got to take it out for a 1200 mile drive over the past 4 days. What a blast. Had more miles at 99k but the IMS and oil separator together with other items were all done. Well maintained and solid. ENJOY! I have had BMW's for many years but this is a fun change of pace.

Out of curiosity if you don't mind me asking, what is the IMS/RMS service you're having done going to run you?
Also could always purchase a supercharger kit for it if the need for more presents itself.
