Make sure to use materials designed for high temps if you plan to do any track time

In a pinch, I guess that you can do it, but how you prevent paint from getting places where it doesn't belong is beyond my masking talents.

6ft square piece of painters plastic, tape it just above the wheel well on the hood, tuck it up in the wheel well and poke a zip tie around the strut and through the plastic to hold it up against the inner well. cut a 12" slit in the plastic and pull your caliper through and rest it on the rotor. no overspray, done. just do all your prep work before you put the plastic on.

That's how I do it when I paint them in place. I'm trying to find pics of my boxster I did just like this but having a hard time finding them.

I used the dupli-color kit. No striping, just really good cleaning of the caliper. Added "Porsche" brake decals from Ebay. This has lasted for many years and still looks great.

The only mistake I made was to clear-coat over the decal. The clear coat yellowed a little with heat and time, making the decal look faded. Next time, I'd skip the clear coat.

I used the stickers from ebay for mine as well. They did specify "heat" though and they haven't faded so far. I'm on my second summer with mine, I'll have to take a closer look to see if they fading and I'm just not noticing it.

So, it looks like this is a "do it yourself" type of project as I've talked to two local independent shops near me and neither of them think this is a good idea nor will they provide the service.....

“ not a good idea”.... huh?? I can’t think of any logical reason why a shop would say it’s a bad idea to paint your calipers. So many cars on the road have painted calipers From do it yourselfers. Just my 2 cents.. nothing bad with painted calipers. These are mine after two summers of driving. Still look great.
