RUF rgt 996!
I attended a mid-week luncheon/car show in Keswick, Virginia today. Nothing special there....just a Ferrari 250 GTO, a Ferrarie 288 GTO, and an original owner 2,400 mile Lusso! Oh, did I mention a Singer 911, a couple of 991 GT3 Touring and a GT2 RS. Just your usual gathering of everyday cars... Ha!!
BUT, there in the corner was a RUF rgt 996. I'd never seen one nor knew of it's existence, but it was unquestionably the best looking 996 I've seen. The color, the stance, the bodywork, the wheels....It all came together.

Wow a super rare find. For some reason I thought all of these had the weird green interior that RUF is known for. Looks like the seats got replaced, too. I still think the RUF 5-spokes are some of the best looking aftermarket wheels on these cars - cool to actually see them on a RUF.

I loved racing this thing on Gran Turismo 3 on my ps2. I remember seeing this one on rennlist, someone came up on a great car. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-gt2-...f-vin-car.html

Here's another interior shot and one of the nose. I see a nose on eBay that is a replica of the RuF nose. Not sure what is going on with that center stack in the IP? No HVAC? There's a fan ****....

Someone may or may not be collecting Ruf parts in their garage to make their own RGTish 996 clone.
All of my research has led me to believe Ruf only made about 17 of these total and only 5 or so made it to the US. There is a blue one, yellow one, metallic orange one, a silver vert and this one I have seen evidence of in the US.
Mine will likely remain m96 powered but that M96 may get some added displacement and other love at some point.
Ruf does the green gages, but you can get the interior trim pieces in many colors.
I have a list of all the ruf items I want. I buy myself a gift every quarter. With a little luck I should be well into the transformation next spring.

I remember seeing one for sale a couple years ago for about $40K if I remember correctly and thought that was a deal and half!

I saw this car 2 years in a row at Werks Reunion Amelia Island. Fell in love with it..a massaged 996 GT3 Mezger engine and the car was a body in white directly from Porsche. A true RUF creation.

Most interesting aspect of this car is that the color and the RUF front cover now make the 996.2 headlamps look fantastic. Plus, you need the wheels. They are 19" and around $4,000 for the set, plus you'll need correct spacers and then tires. Adds up fast.....
