Default Fabspeed Maxflo question

Would or wouldn’t?

Current setup is Fabspeed headers, catless x-pipe and Maxflo mufflers. I can’t stand a car that’s over the top loud - even on track.

Current setup is too quiet - but I do t want to go over the top and I think the Super Cups will be louder than I want.

Considering gundo hack on the Maxflo’s.

I'm in the exact same boat as you, except I have the stock cat set up. Been contemplating the gundo or looking for someone who wants to trade super cups for maxflos...

So I can help here...before I went with my custom Dundon exhaust I actually moved from stock to Stock muffler with 200 cell cats...to FS super cups with 200 cell … to Maxflow with 200 cell to Dundon catless.

Here is my assessment:

Super cups were awesome on the track, sound was great and loved the low weight in the back....however, drove me crazy with drone on the way to the track or just on the street. I had drone between 2600RPM to 2900 rpm. Here is sound at track
https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q...F&&FORM=VRDGAR

Since the drone was killing me on the street, I went with maxflo. Maxflow for me was a perfect combination of track and street....it also weighed less than stock. I considered gundo but I was looking for lower weight as well. If I did not blow my engine two years ago I would have still had Maxflos….I just went a little crazy when I rebuilt my car going for HP and low weight so I went with Custom.

One final qualifier....sound is a personal thing so you may have a different opinion,

Hell Yeah!!! The race headers and cat bypass. The maxflos really help tune it down and the supercups will be very loud. Do you take the car out just to cruise or is it a track car?

If you want to get crazy I can help you out on pricing

The super cups do a good job of taking the edge off the sound on the exhaust.

Explain please....i love fabspeed products (my turbo s has FS intake, exhaust and tune) but i must respectfully say super cups did not seem to take edge off.

I've got fabspeed max flows and the comp intake (street only car). Sounds really good but just not loud enough for me either. I wish i went with supercups but on the other side i don't want the drone either. I wondered if headers and an xpipe would help me. But if you are not happy with what you got that makes me nervous to drop a few grand on more parts.

Still too loud for my taste.

I've read and seen dyno graph that show the X-pipe causes a loss of torque down low. Renntech had a long discussion on this.

Been hearing same. But i thought it was only the catless x pipes. Not the ones with 200 cell? Am i wrong?
no matter at the moment. My exhaust budget just went to spending 1150 for csf all aluminum rad since my left one decided die.

It's been awhile since I read it and you might be right.

If you go with a catless x-pipe you might see a loss in low end torque. That can easily be avoided with a tune you can pick up more torque plus turn off the CEL for not having cats in the x-pipe.

Reviving this thread. You ever fister or gundo hack the maxflos? It's still an idea I'm tossing around.

I currently use fister'd maxflos. The sound is pretty deep and it makes interesting sounds above 4k rpm. That being said, the welder who completed the job said that there is something inside the inlet or outlet pipes that made it a requirement to weld in a lip that directed the air. He has fister'd oem mufflers before, so I trusted he was correct, but I cannot confirm this fact. The result is a weird fart-like tone as the engine reaches lower revs in 2nd gear when slowing down to a stop. Not sure I love that part of the sound... but the rest is great.

I feel the exact same way about the as they are now. I feel like maxflos can sound a bit "ricy" at low rpms under load. I'll avoid modifying them.

Thank you for sharing your experience.
