Default Oil baffle in cylinder head

I recently was reading the engine repair section of my manual and noticed the oil baffle in the cylinder head is only used in bank 1 head.
Anybody know the reason for this? I’m trying to remember, but reasonably certain my engine has one in the bank 2 head also. Wondering what issues this may cause.

Isn’t there a corresponding pump there too? Returns oil to the main sump from the head.

There’s a pump in each head. I’m trying to understand why Porsche only wants a baffle in the bank 1 (left side) head. Could it be somehow related to the fact that the IMS is on the right side of the engine??

For clarity, is bank 1 on the left or right side of the car, when seated in it? And are you sure about an oil pump in both banks?

Bank 1 is on the left side when sitting in the car. Yes, there are pumps on both sides.

Not sure what that is. The X51 package added a second oil pump in the right bank to get oil back to the sump and prevent oil starvation in high G, left hand sweepers. Since I am guessing you are talking about a standard M96 motor, I am stumped too.

I believe that baffle/shield is to keep oil from being slung off the chain directly at the AOS breather port. Having one also on bank 2 will cause no harm.

It's an oil scraper for the chain. Who put the second one in?

Forgive me for bumping an old thread, but this is the only link on the topic I could find.

I have a 3 chain m96 motor (04 911

Carrera 3.6) that should have this same shield/baffle best i can tell from this post.

I stumbled on this post by accident as I'm rebuilding my motor and came across a bracket that I didn't remember where it came from.

So as I'm building and remember this post, i couldn't find this shield that i thought i should've had. I even purchased it. But i can't see where it would go. Looking at the pic of the ship manual in this post, it seems to go where the timing chain lives but I see no way of mounting on mine.

Am i on a wild goose chase here?

FYI. The brackets i didn't know where they came from are PS related...

I recently finished engine assembly on my 3.6 to 4.0. I do not have this baffle. The only bracket installed seems to be the guide for the oil level sensor. The picture is of my engine upon disassembly.
