^^^^ that is surprising, from jdbornem's data it looked like there would be a measurable difference...

Thanks for clarification. So what will it take to improve it. Tune?

I think the story has been that they provide benefit to larger capacity engines. I have a 4.0 which is why I went with it. Plus it looks better.

I was hoping you'd have insights regarding the diffuser location and/or larger inlet. Those are the two significant upstream differences I saw. For example it could be that the 996 3.6 airbox has plenty of extra capacity, and that the larger snorkel on the 997 airbox takes more advantage of it. Hopefully @jdbornem will be able to add something.

We have conflicting data so I dunno.....maybe jdbornem or wdb can swap it back and forth a few times and get a verdict

Think about all the money that folks will save if it comes down to the snorkel tube.

Not really because diffusers/air straighteners are suppose to just stabilize the air flow so no turbulence effects the MAF Sensor..and I would think the Porsche guy that flow tested would have made sure there was no turbulence with either....the larger inlet should have more potential but jdbornems data says less flow......so the only way to quantify is swap back and forth a few times to make sure the data is plausible..

And then as I have always said....." If the test results differ from the theory, believe the test results, and invent a new theory"...
