Default 2001 996 instrument cluster pixilation issue

(I attached a photo of the gauges in my car - not sure if it is appearing) There's a cluster of pixels that aren't supposed to be there -

Could somebody tell me if this pixilation cluster in one of my gauges can be fixed, or do I have to replace the whole set? If it can be fixed, how do I do that? 2nd question - I've seen a set of white-faced gauges for sale on Ebay - is it possible to replace mine with those white-face plates? Thanks -

Sure, you can do it or have it done for you fairly reasonably.

Here is one reputable place that fix it for you:
https://modulemaster.com/rebuilds/sh...sche-911-2003/

You can get kits to do it yourself as well.

There are all kinds of options for gauge faces, FVD makes nice ones (but pricey) you can find cheap ones on eBay. Here is a nice selection of FVD ones from a reputable source: http://www.autoatlanta.com/Porsche-9...-Kit-srch.html

Seems to me that there are cold weather pixellation issues that sometimes go away when things warm up, but I don't recall the details. Up here it gets pretty cold, but I don't drive my 996es in the winter.

I think you are referring to 914rubber.com. I know they have an excellent kit for replacing the climate control LCD. Not sure if they have the other screens. Mark, the owner, is a great guy. Send him an email.

I think I have an extra cluster with white face that's perfect.

I'll check later.

PM Me.

Dave - Still new to Rennlist - may have sent this message a minute ago - how much are you asking for your black-faced set?

Has your car been exposed to extreme cold? If so, it might heal itself once it gets warm again. Mine did:

Hi -- just bought it less than a month ago, and until this past Monday it really hasn't been all that cold, so no - I don't think so. I doubt I'll get around to replacing the cluster till Spring anyway, so I can see if it clears up by itself.

Thanks -

Do you have a .1 or .2? Do you have part numbers? My clock screen just started getting the pixel issues and I would love to repair it.

Thanks!

I take the opportunity to ask a related topic.

I want to change my gauges from US spec to Euro Spec.

- Can it be done just changing the faces?
if not,
- Do you know any recommendation about where to send them to do it?

Thanks!
