12" Wheels on a 996.2?

Anyone running 12" wheels on the rear? I'm looking for a set of track wheels and found a set of OZ wheels on the Marketplace with the following specs:

Front:
18 x 8.5 ET 50
Rear
18 x 12 ET 63

Shouldn't be a problem with the fronts, but what about the rears?

Thanks in advance.

Yes they fit no problem without any spacers at ET63. I ran them on my 2003 C2 narrow body.

On the fronts I spaced the 8.5's out to ET38 with wheel studs and 245 tires. They will fit at ET50 (stock is ET53), but the wider track width is desirable. No rubbing on the fender at cup car ride height with camber at -3.

On the rears I ran the ET63 12" wheels with 315 tires. No spacers. Fit fine at cup car height and camber at -2.5. No rubbing.

I now own a 2004 GT3 (same narrow body) and I run the rears the same way but with more negative camber. I run the fronts at ET35 on 8.5" wheels and -3.8 camber but I am on 997-RSR suspension arms all around with caster pucks so the setup is a bit different, much wider track width front and rear.

I'm running 11.5's on the rear of my C4S & so I don't think you'll be able to squeeze 12's on a NB car.

I think you want closer to ET42 on the fronts, no?

Stock offset on a narrow body 996.2 is ET50. You can easily go down to ET40 or ET38 without any problems on 18x8 or 18x8.5 wheels.

12” width with 63mm offset would almost definitely require more negative camber than factory Carrera specs, but it could most certainly be made to fit.

Below is a picture (not mine, don’t remember where I found it) of a 996 with 997.1 GT3 wheels on the rear. From what I recall, he reported that inner clearance was not an issue and that they were flush with the fender. The wheels are 19x12 with a 68mm offset. So, a 12” wheel with a 63mm offset would be like adding a 5mm spacer to the wheels pictured here:

Can a 12” wheel with a 63mm offset fit on a 996 NB? Definitely. But it will probably not be at Carrera spec camber.

I’m not sure where you’re getting 53 from, but the 996 GT2/3 front width and offset are 8.5” & 40mm and 38mm would also be fine.

Sorry...corrected...Stock 996.2 Carrera II wheels were 18x8 and ET50 on the front.

Fixed my post.

19x12 et63 is fine as far as outer fender clearance goes on 996.2. It's pretty much the exact same as the 19x11 et52 I'm running right now. I'm lowered 1" and run a bit of extra camber but not much. Inner clearance I couldn't tell you since I'm on an 11.

These are from a for sale thread on this forum.

if it helps sell at all for the NB guys i run this exact size setup on my 02 narrow body without issue. tires on mine are 245/40 and 315/30. 5mm spacers in rear

The 5mm spacers on the rear give it an effective offset of 63. So that’s what 18x12 ET 63 looks like on a NB. Thanks to worm1998 for the helpful post.

Thanks all! Just made the deal and looking forward to getting a dedicated track setup.
