996TT Daily Drivers?
Wondering how many 996 Turbo daily drivers are out there? I have been looking for my next daily and have narrowed it down to either a Macan Turbo or a 996 Turbo and am really leaning towards the 996, as I really don't think there is a better bang for the buck / better vehicle out there. I know it has its own quirks/issues (none that are a big deal though), but really feel it could be the perfect car and wanted to get some real world experience/thoughts from those of you in the know?

Details, ah yes... I live in south Denver, CO and drive quite a bit for work up and down the front range, mostly downtown though, averaging 150-300 miles per week, depending on the week. Note... I have never owned an automatic car and definitely feel I can continue on with a manual, which is a big plus for the 996 in my mind. My wife has a newer MDX, so I don't really need two SUV/CUV's and am happy to skimp on the luxury and just enjoy the drive.

996tt is an excellent daily driver. Just not great on fuel consumption and it has a very small gas tank. Tires also wear out really quick. A Macan would be a better choice but if your mostly driving by your self and want something special the 996tt would be a great choice.

For me it would be a modern double din audio/phone/nav system. Rubber mats. A ecu flash to wake it up and and exhaust to hear the engine. Heated seats are nice to have. I wouldn't drop the suspension height as it looks good but to low for city curbs.

I daily my GT2 3 seasons of the year, sparingly enjoy in winter when roads are clean. Awesome daily drivers (Turbo is a better daily still) but will certainly cost more than a 'regular' car... but is awesome to enjoy everyday... listen to Jumper's ideas but be cautious on exhaust mods (drone)

I daily my manual C2.
(Have since Sept 2017)
52 mile commute, over half of which is stop and go traffic, with about 1/3 being high speed open freeway.
The mileage depends upon how you drive, which it is difficult to not keep your foot in it when the chance arrives.
I have adjustable coilovers set to their maximum height and medium dampening.
The height is due to pot holes and speed bumps on smaller roads and parking lots.
I currently run Michelin Pilot Sport S4 tires, and they’re wearing fast.
I’m very happy with my “commuter.”

I daily my 99 C2. The only concern is that my car is now 20 years old. Stuff should be breaking left and right at this point.
I think you could daily a 996TT. You may have higher repair and maintenance bills, but you won’t have depreciation. Every time I get into my car to drive it I think to myself, “I love driving this car,” which makes up for any potential downside. I also had an 88 Targa 911 that was my only car. Only problem with that car beside it’s age (17 years old) was that it didn’t really have AC. These 996s have great AC, and all the comforts that you’d get with most sports cars these days except my 99 doesn’t have a glove box or cup holders. Cup holders are an easy addition though.

Awesome, I appreciate all the thoughts and advice. The more thought I put into the idea, the better I think it is. Just drove an 03 x50 and loved it, but the wrong car. The hunt for the right 996TT is on!

i daily my 996tt when the weather is above 40 and not gonna rain. (Im not worried about getting it wet, im worried about the other idiots who cant drive in the rain.) The upkeep/maintenance is not too bad money wise if you do the work yourself. I average 23-25ish mpgs cruising down the interstate at 75 for my 65 mile round trip commute.
