Some people do it by heating the lights in an oven at a low temp. I don't think I would try it unless I bought a cheap set of lights to work on.

Eeeeek... that's like the grandma that "warmed up" the house cat in the microwave when she mistakenly left it out in the cold and rain.

As experienced as I am working on cars, for the platinum expensive 996 lights, I chose to pay somebody that has done it before.

Steam Mill..I pm'd ya.

I'm in rural Ontario with nobody local with any experience in Porsche headlight mods/restoration, and my Boxster's headlights have the typical DRL burns in them that I want gone.

Thanks...these are going to look fantastic.

Really nice update for the peepers. Should look good with any 996.2 color. Very promising!

The oven warms the adhesive between the lens and the plastic shell of the light so you can remove the lens without damage. The adhesive is very strong and the lens wonít come out without breaking if you donít heat it first. It isnít as dramatic as it sounds, since the temperature isnít that high.

Yup. You'll still probably want a hair dryer to help keep the adhesive warm after it comes out of the oven. I've done this twice with previous vehicles. Not as scary as it seems.
