My wrecked 911 came from their auction.
I check Copart almost everyday. Always looking for Acura TL Type S manual trans cars, BMWs, and Porsches. I have a friend with an account. He bids on anything I am interested in. Never won anything yet.

What Samcrac needs to realize is that although he got a 996 for around $5K, a Mk1 996 coupe with that many miles is probably only worth about $10K as a salvage vehicle. It will be interesting to see if he can put it back together under that mark. You add the cost of coolant system repair, duct work replacement, front bumper replacement and repaint, it will probably exceed the $10K mark. But maybe this guy knows people that can get it done cheap.

I haven't seen him attempt to sell any cars for a profit. He has kept a lot of them. He gave the money pit Jetta to a friend (who teaches wrenching to special needs youngsters) and then eventually took it back and gave him a nicer car because the Jetta was a total piece of junk. I suspect he'll keep the 996 because he seems excited about his first 911.
Frankly, I'm glad to see a 996 getting brought back and not having an LS swap inflicted on it (a la hoovie).

I don't think he really got a particularly good deal on that car. I think he's going to end up spending as much money rebuilding that car as he would just buying one with a clean title that needed a little deferred maintenance performed.
