Display Change from outside temp
Cannot find an answer. 99 C2 Went to a meeting last night and then returned home. It has been a tad cold for Florida the last few days. Normally my center LCD display shows MPH on the top and the outside temp below that. When I said gee...how cold is it and looked, the display had changed to "miles to fill up" with a mileage and an arrow pointing to a gas pump. Well, I don't have the fourth stalk to toggle through the display settings, so how did it change and how do I change it back?

Sounds like you had a "glitch" occur in your cluster. You will need a PIWIS or Durametric to recode the cluster, also you can go ahead in install the 4th stalk and activate the OBC while your at it..

I was hoping it would unglicth itself today because it is warmer. No such luck. I have Durametric but have never used it on the cluster. Any idea how that works for recoding the cluster? And yeah...could always add the fourth stalk so I might be looking for one of those. Are the wires or harness already there?

It could be that you were running low on fuel and the car automatically show you the autonomy?

I wouldn't worry bout this too much unless you just gotta have it changed or... if the car started talking to you like HAL from 2001 Space Odyssey, then you may need to pull it's circuits. hahaha "What are you doing Joe?" " I'm afraid, I'm afraid, Joe!....
Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer do. I'm half crazy all for the love of you. It won't be a stylish marriage, I afford a carriage. But you'll look sweet upon the seat of a bicycle built for two."

Weird that this is happening to others as well. How can a display mode sit exactly the same for 20 years and 145K miles, and then just suddenly change? I am going to try a few things when I get a chance, disconnect battery and plug in the Durametric. I"ll report back if anything works. I actually don't want to see how many miles to the next fill up...who cares about that!

I think mine change when I got to or just below a 1/4 tank now that I think about it. It never returned after fill up.

I've had my gas level to below when the warning light comes on and the temperature display never changed. It does seem like it would be a useful feature to automatically switch to the remaining mileage screen when the tank is very low, so who knows? If the Durametric can't change it then the options are the dealer, adding a fourth stalk, or the OBC button hack.

For me, I may have hit the stalk (4 stalk car) and changed it without knowing it...Changed it back today.
