Default Car is running very rich.

Hello all, my car has made some serious progression from the first time I posted on this page. It’s been repainted and now just a few minor things and it will be rock solid.
My poor girl stalls out in the morning many many times before actually starting up, and when she starts up, she sputter and dies. Then after about 5 to 6 times she starts up, has a rough idle and once it gets warm then she’s okay. Live data is showing that short term fuel trim for bank 2 sensor 2 is reading 99.0. Car does throw codes P1126 and P300-P306. CEL comes and goes on it’s own. Car did run lean then I cleaned the maf sensor and that went away. Car often smells like gasoline on start up as well. All spark plugs and coils are new, oil is fresh as well. Anyone have a clue? Here are before, during, and after pics of my baby girl now.

You could have a stuck fuel injector, which is not good for these engines. I bought the Joe Gibbs Driven Injector Defender, recommended by LN engineering to clean the injectors. Or maybe I drank the cool-aide, but sounds reasonable enough to me.

How is that workin out for you? I only fill up with Chevron but maybe the Techron isn’t strong enough. I’ll check that out thank you.

Don't drive it rich, you'll wash the bores and things will go south from there...

Pull the injectors and get them tested/cleaned etc. They should flag if you have any bad ones.

Nice progress. Have you replaced the O2 sensors?

No I haven’t. Car only has 40k. Wanted to make sure there wasn’t a vacuum leak before I start buying things I don’t need. Cause the sputtering and dying on cold start 100% seems like a vacuum leak. Cause when rubber gets warm it could plug the leak. Would you maybe know of a vacuum system diagram so I could smoke it?

P1126 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation Area 1 (Cylinders 4 - 6) - Rich Threshold

Also, any chance you have a non-stock intake/filter/airbox on the motor?

How has no one said, HOLY CRAP that car looks amazing now. If you don't mind, what did the paint job cost?

I was able to get a warranty repaint approved. Didn’t cost me a dime. Quote was around 6 grand tho.

It was painted previously, don’t know the reason. So was able to go back to the shop and argue the delamination was caused by a defect. And the shop reached out to the insurance and got it approved, because they give lifetime warranties with their paint jobs.. Didn’t even have to pay the deductible.

Wow....that was lucky....the previous owner missed an opportunity to paint and sell the car for more.... :-)
