Default 2002 cab, Hardtop installation instructions needed

Can anyone point me towards detailed instructions for installing a Hardtop on a 2002 C4? I found a top that has all the correct hardware, but has no instructions, the owner never installed it and has no knowledge of what to do. I know it needs to be secured with a Torx (or Allen) wrench which the current owner does not have? I was hoping there might be online instructions somewhere?

The wrench is It is a 6 mm long handle Allen wrench. You can get one at Home Depot, Lowes, Harbor Freight, etc.

Is the top from your car? Check to make sure you dont have a hard top delete option. Some cars (like mine) do not have the harware to mount a hardtop. I had to install the hard top mounts to make my newly aquirred top.

I just bought a hardtop for my 2002 cab. It had the hardtop delete option from the factory but also had the hardware installed that I needed to mount the top. I followed the instructions in the owner’s manual and it was a piece of cake. You definitely need the Allen wrench. My car squeaks much less with the hardtop on.

You got lucky then. In the begining of production all 996's had the mounting hardware regardless of if it had the top or not. At some point if the car had the delete option the car didnt have the hardware. Mine is a 2004 so it did not have the hardware. Luckily you can find them cheap on ebay and install is easy. I dont know why people wouldnt want the hardtop. Its much quieter and looks good. It is a little bit of a pain since you need 2 people and a space to store it but i love having mine.
