Default G96/31 to 2WD

Hi,
I'm contemplating to buy a G96/31 from a C4 and adapt it in my VW vanagon 2wd. Usually the best is to find a G96/01 from a C2 but the only one I can find is from a C4...

Therefore, Is it possible to use a G96/31 and run it or convert it as a 2WD ?
Can't find info specific for that very transmission!
Thanks in advance!

You can always run it with the front shaft flange still there

So it's not like the G64/00 which can't be run rwd only?
That's very good news!

I have an '07 C2 transmission sitting on my garage floor - bought a whole wreck for the engine for my dead '02 C4.

It's a tiptronic Mercedes.

PM me if you want more details.

Thanks for the offer colmfmurphy, I found a C4 for around 1100$ USD.
I'm just not going to use the 4wd output flange. It appears not to be a problem.

I prefer manual. Moreover, I'm not a fan of ZF boxes.

Yes, it is not uncommon to run C4/TT as rwd only.

Thanks Moburky.
I'll then go forward and buy the transaxle.
