Default FVD Motorsport pan with Accusump?

Anyone here tracking their 996 with a FVD oil pan/baffle (.75 qt) and an Accusump. If so, how is this combination on the track in long high G corners? Thanks for your input.

I run the FVD baffled oil pan without any Accusump system. Oil pressures are always solid and I've never had an issue. Plus it looks nice and shiny under the car

How is the ground clearance with the FVD pan?

I never had an issue with mine. I eventually took the skip plate off as well.

Now I run the Mantis 2qt DEEP sump and still don't have many issues - but its low.

I ran the mantis deep sump and still had oil pressure drop to 20psi on track. Also ran an external cooler which did help, although not a whole lot.

How did the external oil cooler help?

Where was it plumbed in?

It was plumbed into the mantis pan (welded -8 bungs and ran lines to the front of the car where the cooler was mounted). A tilton electric pump drove the oil through the cooler from the pan (no pressure zone/loss). I saw temps of 220-235 on track with it on. Without it, temps would go to 250-260. So it worked in keeping temps down, unfortunately oil pressure still took a dip and overall oil pressure would start to drop from 70PSI (in the first few laps) down to 35-45psi toward the end of a 30 minute session. This was at track RPM, so 4-7K. After seeing how this engine responded to track abuse and reading some of the rebuild stories...I yanked the m96 for good. Problem solved.

Well, keeping the oil cooler definitely will help.

Anyone ever use an Accusump too? I used to run one with my 944SPEC car and never had any oil pressure issues; so I am curious to find out if others have installed one on the m96 motor with good results.

What did you replace the m96 motor with?

I keep wondering about the LS conversion. I'm sure my 996 is destine to become a dedicated track car at some point and the LS conversion seems like it would be a fun project and a blast to drive.

depending how you do it, it can be cheaper than rebuilding the m96 engine (and I'm not talking flat fix 30K rebuild, which is just astronomical if you ask me). the ls series of engines are not without their own oiling issues, which are well documented. but you can build an ls1-3 with a dry sump system for the cost of a used m96 engine and have leftover money for supporting mods. Best part, your ls engine blows up, go on CL and be back on the road for less than 2K.
