Default Carrera Script On Engine Cover

Going through receipts for my 1999 C2, I noticed the previous owner purchased the Carrera lettering Part #: 996-559-237-06-70C a few years after the car was delivered. There is no repair receipts though, so Im wondering if was blank upon delivery.

My car has this Carrera script on the rear lid and I've always thought that this was factory. Is it possible the 99 996 came with no rear script, unless optioned? On my window sticker, there is no mention of a delete or option.

More likely it was broken in a car wash and replaced

I broke mine when hand washing and drying the car. Towel snagged on the C and broke off. Ordered replacement and installed. All good.

It's not uncommon for owners to remove the rear emblems to give it a "logo delete" look. The last owner probably wanted to put it back to factory. Question - Did the previous owner attach it to the upper or lower section on the rear deck lid?

The final "a" on my script is also broken and I'm debating on deleting, replacing or going with the Millenium/40th "911" script.

IIRC, the 911 script is $$$ lol

How much do they charge for that 911 script?

It's on the lower. Is that factory?

I really need to pony up for the 996 book.

For the mk1 cars like yours, factory was upper position for the "Carrera" rear emblem.

I think I paid about $50 for my silver Carrera badge. I was thinking I'd replace the black original that gets lost on my Lapis Blue car but...can't quite bring myself to this "customization" yet!

The "C" was broken off when the previous owner had mine. He just took it off completely. I bought a silver badge recently to put back on. I think it will look good on my black car. I also paid around $50.

Be glad the "C" wasn't broken off instead or you would have been wrong or an "arrera".
