As title states, did the 996 C4 (not C4s or C2) have the X51 package as an option? If yes, was it available for both the manual and Tiptronic transmission? Asking as I'm considering a 996 and want to know all the variations available.

I assume you're talking about a 1999-2001 car. I don't think the X-51 was an option for any US cars until the 996.2. So no regular C4 would have X-51.

I think almost all of the X51 996s were 40AE. The X51 option by itself was extremely expensive, something like 20k. There probably are a few non 40AE, non C4S with the option, and I think I remember someone talking about in a thread not that long ago. Not sure what percentage of the C4S came with X51. I know someone on this forum will have the details.

I thought all 3.6 C4's were C4S's.

They made carrera 4 cabs with and without the S. But the US did not get any carrera 4 coupes for the 996.2's.
