Default Sport Classic II's & Brake Dust - the Bane of my Existence

Love the wheels but they are a nightmare to keep clean. After a thorough car wash, they get dirty within 7 feet of driving. Anyone else dealing with these devil wheels? Thinking of going aftermarket with some 18" Fuch replicas or some 808's from Wheel Dynamics just to avoid having to clean them every 93 seconds. OEM brake pads by the way.

Devil wheels

Yup, as you can see from my avatar I feel your pain. There is a solution... Go with ceramic brake pads - the difference is amazing! I used this kit back in April ( https://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-911...4383.l4275.c10 ) and have been super happy with them. Super reasonable price, excellent performance and the wheels stay way cleaner than the previous brakes that were on there. The wheels still look fine after driving the car for 3 or 400 miles... Obviously they have brake dust on them, but it's barely noticeable...

I have the same wheels, but I don't mind cleaning them. Your green 911 looks fabulous.

The OE brake pads are known for brake dust. Get some ceramic pads. There are many to chose from on Pelican, Warehouse33 and the like. I have ceramic pads on the front and they produce little brake dust, stop on a dime.

I feel your pain...

I have a set of Champion Motorsport RG5 3 pieces... and they are also a nightmare to keep clean

The best "solution" that I have found so far, is to clean them well, give a light hand of synthetic polish (one AIO like AutoyGlym Resine polish works perfect) and then, seal them with a good sealant (I use Jet Seal from Chemical Guys). The process for the 4 wheels can take you almost one complete day and 3-4 cokes aprox

That wont prevent the dust generation, but at least, that make it harder to attach to the wheel, and cleaning them is much more easy. You will see that just spraying water almost all dust will go out

In this kit https://www.ebay.com/itm/351746800031 I think Meyel or Sebro - there are/were a few different brands in there, not sure which parts were which...Definitely not Hawk though

I can get all those brands in that eBay link, they're just not on www.warehouse33auto.com. I'm also a Hawk dealer too.

How do that for $276? I paid over a grand for OEM rotors and pads.

Porsche Tax!... Meyel and Sebro are both OEM suppliers... I guess it costs a lot to print the Porsche logo on the boxes. All kidding aside, I get that brakes are not something you want to "skimp" on, and I have to say, I was somewhat skeptical and went as far as measuring everything once I had them in hand. For all intents and purposes the parts are "exactly" the same as what was on the car (that were still working fine BTW). I will keep a close eye on them and inspect periodically to be sure there are no cracks developing in the rotors - so far so good.

Akebono Euro pads are what you want. I installed them on the front of my BMW. The rears are still the original. The fronts are always dustless when the rears are completely dusty.

^^^ I think it has more to do with the material than the brand If it's "ceramic" it generates much less dust, regardless of brand name
