So I won't loose any more oil other than what's in the oil filter?

Okay, I'll do that this weekend and see what's in the filter.

Here's how Bentley says how to install filter. I was concerned I did it wrong my first time 😎

If you put the filter on the engine and then lift the canister up, that’s still the same end result and I wouldn’t be worried. But that’s without filling it with oil, or if you do fill with oil, it could spill out, or not be enough.

The advantage to putting the filter in the canister is to fill the filter/canister assembly with oil to the top, and that way, there a lot less air for the oil pump to deliver (and air is bad) when the car is restarted for the first time.

So if folks are taking out their filter for inspection, go ahead and put the new filter in place after cleaning and fill the assembly full of oil again.

While the case can be made to reuse an existing filter that looks pristine, I worry about any dirt or debris that may exist between the joint locations that could have been disturbed by taking the filter off. So I would be cleaning the canister clean, clean the threads, new o-ring, new filter, fill with fresh oil, and be done.

These filters are cheap and easy.

Sounds like it could be a failed cat. Does anything rattle when you tap the cats with a rubber mallet?

Will check that this weekend. I hope it's something like that, although cats aren't cheap. Where would be a good place to get some?

It would be a good time to upgrade to 200-cell cats.
Look at Fabspeed.
Or if you want used OEM, look at DC Automotive.

I haven't pulled the oil filter yet, bug I banged on the mufflers and cats and didn't hear any weird noises, seemed solid.

Had to do a bunch of other work this weekend, I'll try and get to the oil filter tomorrow evening.

So I went out to the car to disconnect the battery and leave the frunk open a tad bit and put a car cover on it...
Disconnected battery, and while I was waiting I decided, what the heck, let's do a DME reset.
So after about 10mins I reconnected the battery, turned key on for 1 min, off for 10 sec, started car, and voila! Its sounded great!
Went out for a test drive, drove it hard, it ran great!

Here's a video of it now... Link to New video, sounds good.

While I was out test driving it, thanking the Lord that it's fixed, I get a sign from heaven! (Don't worry, I pulled over and took the pic!)

I'm still going to pull the oil filter this weekend and make sure all looks good, and when my mechanic gets back from vacation I'm going to have him put the p-puter on it and see if it shows anything. In the meantime I'll drive it some, not a lot till I'm sure it was nothing mechanical. And I'll probably order the coils, they're the original ones.
