Default 82mm throttle body - hose question

Hey all,

Has anyone tried to stretch the standard intake hose onto an 82mm e-gas throttle body?

Reason I ask is i'm considering the 82mm TB + IPD competition plenum (I already have the standard Carrera IPD plenum).

However I really don't like the look of the IPD rubber hose and I want to try and keep the engine bay somewhat standard looking. I know the standard comments will come... "Who cares no one looks under there", "IPD plenums are a waste of money" etc. etc.

This is not a question about performance I'd just like to know if anyone's tried heating the rubber intake to try and fit it on the 82mm TB.

Between the standard 74mm and 82mm there is obviously 8mm stretch required not sure if you'd get that out of the rubber hose. I have a hose but don't have the 82mm TB to try it on, guess I could find something that's 82mm in diameter...

Anyway thought i'd ask

Cheers!

I got my 82mm hose from Fabspeed since I had their intake.
It was a tight fit getting it on.
I don't think you'll be able to stretch the 74mm to 82mm.
I bought my 82mm throttle body from partsgeeks.com and it was much cheaper than most other sources. (~$140)
Get one and try it...you could probably resell it for what you paid for it. (Or return it)

Oops, I just noticed that it was you.
Ummm, Partsgeeks probably won't ship it directly to you.

There is a performance advantage to removing the stock hose and installing IPD.

Thanks all, is that in the fact that it doesn't include the resonator section and the hose is slightly bigger?

Tempted to buy the 82mm TB but am unconvinced as yet because i'm missing the last section to my Cargraphic exhaust - the headers. They will need to come before I do the 82mm + competition plenum.

The colour of the IPD hose is pretty low key black/grey (my opinion). The inside is red. But invisible after mounting.
