Cruise Control Connectors?
Morning Rennlisters.
Yes, I'm another one attempting the "M454 Retrofit" on my RoW 1999 996 Carrera 2. All going fairly well so far (it's a long story, with copious notes) and I have made up a little wiring harness in the style of the original to connect controller to power, earth, brake sensor, clutch sensor, stalks and instrument cluster, but now I'm stumped:
I've tried search, I've scoured the parts catalogue, but I'm none the wiser on the part numbers for the following connectors:
1) The 4-pole, keyed plug (and it's pins) to connect to the clutch sensor. It's identical to the one for the adjacent brake sensor so I have pics, but can't see any part numbers on it.
2) The 10 pole connector to the controller
3) The tiny ickle pins found in the blue instrument cluster connector.
Of course I could bodge something together with some big fat crimp connectors, but I'd like to do this properly. I asked my local OPC. They laughed and said "try Mouser". 34,000+ connectors there, no joy. I constructed fancy queries to Google & Bing text and image search. Nada.
But you clever lot know these things. Please may I have some part numbers?
Many thanks in advance,
Z

Most of the Porsche 996 connectors look similar to older BMW connectors.
They‘re likely made by the same manufacturer.
If you know someone with a BMW, see if you can find a matching connector.
You can find connector part numbers on https://www.realoem.com/ and then order them, and pins or pre-crimped 3“ wires, from any BMW dealer or https://www.getbmwparts.com/.

Today I discovered the 996 side marker connector looks just like a BMW Vanos/water pump/camshaft Sensor connector.
Take a picture of the connector and I‘ll look through my spare BMW connectors for a possible match.
If I have a match, I‘ll get the part number for you.

Thanks again Squirrel. I have pics of all the main harness connectors but alas won't be able to get to them until late tonight. As it happens, I'm also interested in the side repeater connector as one of mine is missing and bodged...
Z
PS/ BMW site blew my brain & seems to confirm the need for at least some identifying marks on the plugs. Looks hopeful though.

One little bit of progress:
The instrument cluster connector IS a BMW part, the cover being marked 8 373 606 and made by Siemens. Can't yet find details on this one although there are a few "pigtails" (i.e. cut connectors with a short length of cable attached to each pin) on ebay. According to the "realoem" site, the full part number is 37738373606 and this is just the covering cap for the connector. Irritatingly, no associated parts are listed. The search continues...

Let me look and see if I can come up with the other part numbers.
I might have a brand new connector and the crimpable pins that go with it if you’re US based.

Looks like it is an older connector.
Bu
t just in case, do any of these possibly look like it?
Maybe these are a newer part number.

Oh, unless you have the correct crimpers, go with the pigtails!
I have the “correct” crimpers and they’re still tough to work with.
They won’t fit in the housing if you used needle nose pliers to crimp.
I’ve repaired lots of wiring for people who have tried to crimp them themselves.
It’s easy-ish money. Ha!

Oh, I just saw you said 4-pole and 10-pole connectors.
I guess I as thinking 2-pole because of the other connector thread.
Let me go back and look at my BMW electrical parts bin.

Found this interesting https://www.renntech.org/forums/topi...rol-to-a-my98/
And the connectors mentioned seem to be VDO which led to Tyco 10 pin connectors. Google images for VDO and Tyco 10 pin connector plugs and see if any match up
For example this is one website I ran across https://www.alibaba.com/showroom/10-...connector.html

Either of these look like it?
The only other ones I have are for the DME and they’re closer to 24 pins.
I’ve used all of my other 4-pole connectors.

Joe: Thanks for the link: The only picture I can find of the cc controller connector is this one (which I think was originally from RL: Shout if I need a licence )
As I've never seen one of these in the flesh, I can't establish a manufacturer or part number: Maybe its a Tyco DJ71016Y - but I have no way of confirming this.
@Squirrel: Thanks for all the pictures - and particularly the advice about the pins for the SIemens connector. It was my intention to solder the cable to the pin but with what you've said, I know see why the one write up I found (I'll post a link when I find it) for a similar retrofit on a Boxster used a VW repair part with pin attached. I'll investigate this route.
Sadly, none of the pics you posted relate to the clutch sensor connector (though I'm still keen on learning what that side repeater connector part number/spec is) so here's a pic of the (identical) connector used for the brake sensor:
It features a 'T'-shaped key in the centre - which I should have photographed.
Just to keep it all on the same thread, I did establish the part numbers for the plug and pins used for the stalk connector (and also, incidentally the glove box light for those like me who thought it might be clever to do a dashboard upgrade to facelift version). Here's the paste from my order to my (very patient) independent who tolerates my incessant orders for small bags of stuff:
903-10 999.652.972.40 Plug socket x1 (To stalk)

Thanks all for your continuing help - much appreciated, and I do feel like I'm making progress .

Hello again chaps,
Here is the clutch sensor/ brake sensor receptacle:
I can't find a part number. Anyone have a clue where I'd get a couple of these?
Thanks,
Z
ps/ they're really hard to release from the plug body. Bare-metal foil scribe to the rescue!
