Took a lot of effort on my part to make sure I didn't get screwed by the insurance. This level of damage totalled it:

What was the underlying damage? I don't see a totaled vehicle from the outside. The motor alone is worth a buyback...

The insurance inspector says the damage to my car is about $10k. I brought the car to a body shop that I've dealt with in the past and they will work out the details with the insurance company. I'm skeptical that it can be fixed for that. The inspector specified the wrong wheel part number and is off on that alone by about $400.

I'm pretty confident it won't be totaled. $10k sounds about right.

You may want to make sure the quote is using OEM parts. I recently talked to a body shop and they told me insurance almost never signs off on OEM parts anymore.

Thanks. They were scouting out the OEM parts while I was there.

Any update on your 911 wyovino? Was curious about your repair hoping it is on track to being finished.

The shop just called this morning. They are still waiting for parts and expect them to arrive by the end of this week.

^^ So they're going to fix it? Wow! Unexpected, but actually better for you in the long run I think...

It is. My engine never loses a drop of oil between changes and I know its maintenance history. It will need a suspension refresh at some point but everything else is in good shape.

Woohoo, glad to see it's back on the road!
Now just be more careful when driving it.

Yes, I'll try to remember not to drive it where there might be trucks or other cars.
