Default No cranking power after driving

After I start the car (cool) in the morning or afternoon and drive it to work or home, if I have to stop for gas or pickup my son then starting the car back is a bit of a challenge. It behaves like it doesn't have enough power to run the starter and I have to turn the key multiple times so that it starts. I am more inclined towards replacing the battery but i am not 100% sure, I took the battery to Autozone and they mentioned that it charged well.

has anyone experience this problem before?

Does the solenoid click? Any noise at all? Does it crank, but just slowly?
The ignition switch is a common failure point. And our starters are getting old. Also, the ground cable to the starter is notorious for getting corroded and not carrying load well.

Quite common, the Y cable from the rear jumper to the alternator/starter is giving you high resistance. I had the same problem and did a voltage drop test and found it borderline when cold. I had my own cables made by these guys, quick service and no issues even in 100 degree days. the reason I use these guys is I wanted a bigger cable to carry more amps and I eliminated the Y and ran two cables direct from the rear jumper to the starter and the other for the alternator, be sure to check the Neg cable in the rear also.
the two cables cost me less than 30 dollars shipped, way less then the OEM replacement.

Agreed the next thing to check is the y-cable (voltage drop test). If it's not that, then it could be your starter acting up when hot.

Replacing the starter was sufficient in my case; the symptoms were the same as yours (starts fine cold, starter is really weak once it is heat soaked).

First thing I would check is your ground cable at the battery. Make sure it has a nice clean connection to that chassis.

It's the Y cable as Ashai and others mentioned.

Its worth swapping out the starter while you're there too.

Its about a few hours - 1/2 day-full day DIY depending on experience.
