Default Rear bumper exhaust tips heat protection

I recently had to repair my rear bumper due to the heat from my exhaust tips melting the top of the bumper exhaust opening. Someone told me they saw another 996 with some type of metal protection covering the bumper openings. I have been unable to find anything similar to this. If anyone knows where I can source these, I will greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Should not be needed if you are running stock tips.

If you have a C4S you should have them. On parts diagrams it doesn't appear that the C2 has them.

Auto Atlanta has them for the C4S

2nd this, I've tracked my car with both stock and aftermarket mufflers, both with stock tips, and no issues with heat against the bumper. I have new motor mounts, so the tips are as close to the bumper as they're ever going to be.

Factory manual references a minimum of 20mm between the tips and the bumper.

They are very easy to reposition if they aren’t within factory spec.

If you keep them shiny they will not get bumper as hot. If you make them flat black they will heat up bumper due to blackbody emissivity increasing radiation from tip....Sounds crazy but its true. What color are your tips!

How did you fix it? I have an idea in mind that doesn't involve replacement bumper cover and painting (although I have the capability for that in the shop). What did you do to sort it out?

I am going to geek out more....Double wall is effectively a heat shield that substantially drops the temperature due to the fact that its the difference of temperature to the 4th power. :-)

Right on Lowpue. One reason I am not overly impressed with "their stuff". My fault for not listening to my intuition.

Default Exhaust tips rear bumper damage

Thanks all for your comments and help. I installed an aftermarket exhaust and exhaust tips. I will look into the C4S parts. Thanks again.
