Default Tranzit Mic Placement, here's where I put mine...

Just wanted folks to see where I put my mic and control button. Mic works great there! And it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb...

Sorry for the pic quality, it's my phone.

Why don't you put it in the factory spot under the cover that's next to the instrument cluster?

I tried, but couldn't figure out how to run the wire without taking the instrument pod off.

Its easy, remove hazard switch, remove torx screw underneath, remove mike cover then remove torx screw then gently pull the cluster up to release the clips.

There is more detailed instructions and videos on YouTube too.

Maybe in a couple of weeks when I get some time on the weekend.

Saw you're from down under, have you ever been to San Antonio?

Sure am! Melbourne, Victoria!

Unfortunately I've never been to Texas! I've been to Hawaii, California and NYC.

California was my favourite! I'll be back one day and do Texas, maybe visit Gas Monky Garage! Get you some of that! Hahahaha

Reason I asked is we had a guy that was in the Australian Air Force stationed here for about 3 years and he was an active member of the local Porsche club.

Ahh nice one, there are quite a few clubs here: Porsche Club Victoria, Porsche Forum Australia and Classic Porsche Australia are the most well known

I put mine in the A-pillar, just above the visor. It works great and I can have a conversation with the top down at 40 mph and people hear me fine. I think the factory location is too low. The mic in the A-pillar lines up more closely with your mouth.

Btw - Dump the CD holders for an upper cubby.
