C4S
After selling my '02 C2 Cab 2 years ago to finance my MBA, I am back in the market for another 911. I am looking for either a 996 C4S (#1 choice) or potentially a base 997.1 C2. I missed a few good ones recently, but have also recently passed on some without solid mechanical history. Looking at the 50-90k mile range with all the basics done (clutch/IMS/RMS), or without (would need to be cheaper as I would be addressing those items together immediately). Mechanical condition is more important than cosmetics. Located in SE (Atlanta), but willing to travel for the right one... I flew out to buy my first 911 in Oklahoma and drive it the 800+ miles home.
Let me know if you know of a good one, are thinking of selling, etc. Thanks! |
I found mine on Craigslist. The car was in Virginia and I drove it down to Florida. There are a few craigslist app that would search across multiple regions, this way I was able to search multiple states at the same time. Be careful of scams, they are out there. Good hunting.

I'm pretty close to you, so thought I'd chime in w/ some local avails:
I've been watching this car for a while because it's almost identical to my car and in my back yard -- same color and spec but with 8k less miles. I paid $22k for mine and have since put about $8k in parts since, so I'm still about 5k cheaper. I think this one is a bit over market, but being sold by a dealer i would buy this kinda car from: https://www.jpfrazier.com/vehicles/48/2004-porsche-911 Probably a lot more miles than you're looking for, but if you like red and want a deal this might be for you: https://nashville.craigslist.org/ctd...665146549.html This one isn't near us and more miles than your looking for, but i do love the color combo: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2003-Porsch...d=352431627993 You mentioned a 997.1: This one is for sale locally and looks pretty nice: https://nashville.craigslist.org/ctd...668597504.html A bit further away, but do like this car: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2005-Porsch...53.m1438.l2649 |

Thanks for the links! I've seen a few of these and will look into the others as well. I'm usually not a fan of buying my cars from dealers because there is almost always a lack of history, maintenance, etc. (and I also just feel more comfortable buying from an individual). I know a lot of people do not agree, but then again a lot of people don't buy 10+ year old BMWs and Porsches. The JP Frazier car has a lot more info than the normal dealer, but I agree, they will need to be flexible on price for me to make a deal with them as I think it's too high.

Thanks! I might have to take you up on that after talking to them a bit more.

Revising this old thread. Still in the market, let me know if you or someone you know is looking to sell their C4S. |
https://chicago.craigslist.org/nwi/c...690632504.html found this one in the Chicago area. A bit higher than your price range but seems well taken care of. |

Ideally coupe. Potentially open to a cab.

Here is a search on all 2002-2005 identified as C4S on Autotrader, coupe only: https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-...&firstRecord=0
35 cars listed, somewhat surprising the see the quantity with asking price in the $30-$35K range, or even above $40K. Seems like this is about a $5K increase on average compared to when I was shopping 1.5 years ago, maybe the word is out, these things are soooooo darn good. Mileage seems to be the number one influence on asking price. |
A nice example: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...carrera-4s-15/
