LSD & ATB - Do they effect, work with, PSM?
I am looking to upgrade my current open diff. - The options are either a plated LSD or an ATB (Wavetrac or Quaife)
Although inferior I would prefer an ATB due to the low on-going maintenance and the fact they are half the upfront cost - However..,
Will an ATB work with PSM? Or will one confuse the other? - (For clarity I do not want to lose PSM)
I assume an LSD will work with PSM as the 40th Anni 996 runs both, or is this not the case?
Thanks

Yes it'll be fine. the LSD just "helps" the PSM in that it reduces the tendency for one wheel to spin, which would cause PSM to intervene.
To really appreciate the difference the LSD, you'd need to be the type that drives primarily with PSM off.

Yes it does work. I had a GT3 LSD installed last year during a gearbox rebuild. My 996 came with the PSM option. Have not noticed the PSM engaging since I had the LSD installed.

Yes occasionally. LOVE it! No more spinning the inside rear wheel in a turn = putting down more power = higher corner exit speed and WAY more fun. Just be careful in the wet - it can lead to oversteer much more easily.

You can use either a geared or plated diff with psm . It just means the psm will activate less or later
a geared diff is nice off the line or out of corners but s plated diff also gives you deceleration traction on the way in , which suits a 911 nicely
ignore the renlisters who will inevitably jump in this thread saying it’s not needed on a 911 ( despite never having driven one with a lsd)
either one is worth doing , imo after suspension upgrades it’s the best thing you can do to upgrade the performance of a 996
you can spend twice as much on a fancy exhaust that makes your car louder but doesn’t improve performance
