Default Bilstein PSS10 lowest height for reference

I've read that the PSS10 has it's optimal performance only over a narrow range of height setting. And that it doesn't lower the car much compared with other options. I haven't seen many photos of how low the PSS10 can drop the 996, so yesterday, I lowered the car to the lowest setting in the front, and the rear with the same amount of drop.

The rear has about 20mm of thread still, but the front is max'ed out. Wheels are 18's and factory tire specs. Below is are some photos for anyone who is curious. Cheers!

Does it rub at all? I just ordered the PSS10 and plan on lowering the car to the lowest setting.

The front rubs the inner guards in full lock, but normal driving there is no rub. The rears do not rub anything.

Wheels are 18x8 +47 225/40 fronts, 18x10 +60 285/30 rears.

Sorry guys but the lowering you are suggesting and possibly using is a common mistake user make when installing PSS10's. The proper setting for PSS10's will lower the height from stock a good bit, but you are not supposed to go beyond a certain range on the threaded collar. Se the pages from the instruction manual here.

Yes, you are right about the proper setting over a certain range of ride height, I have also stated this in my original post. Personally I was curious, and probably so are many owners who might be looking at getting the PSS10. It is also obvious as the height adjustment collars will also adjust the springs preload, so the performance will surely be affected if adjusted incorrectly. Thanks for pointing this out again as it is quite an important aspect of this suspension and shouldn't be overlooked!

The problem is piston travel not spring pre-load. If you lower too much, you will hit the bump stops.

The 996 track car (Kermit) is technically on PSS10s, but with stiffer springs and bars. The bump stops come into play over curbs, etc. but the shocks have help up remarkably well considering the punishment. Not a good setup for the street however.
