996/997 seat back question
996 vs 997 power seat back difference?
Posted this in another area on the forum with no reply.
Are the 996 and 997 power seat backs the same? (the area that contacts your shoulder blades looks to be similarly shaped).
I drove a 2003 C4S with power seats and felt like something in the seat was pushing my shoulder blades together. It was very uncomfortable.
I drove a 2006 C2S with ADAPTIVE seats, and they were great.
I want a 997.2, but unless the regular power seat backs on 997 are different than the 996, I will only look for cars with the ADAPTIVE seats, which are kinda hard to find.
Anybody have or drive both (996 regular power seats, vs 997 regular power seats?)
Thanks!
-Tom

The seats in 996 and 997 are not the same. If you are looking to purchase 997.2 it should not be hard to find one to sit in. Either way 997.2 seats will not be exactly the same as any 996 seats. Similar, yes, but not identical.

I'll add that even within a 911 generation, there are many seat variants. There are many more options aside from power vs. manual. My 996 had the Comfort Seat option, which had upper and lower lumbar supports that were individually adjustable. They were quite comfortable, but lacked lateral support compared to a sport seat. My 997 had adaptive sport seats, which were fantastic and provided good lateral support and overall comfort.
One thing to note is that Porsche seats have always been a bit narrow compared to American cars, and it can be difficult to get comfortable if you're got a wide build.
