New 996 Owner Here - Saying Hello
I spent the last 20 years riding and racing sportbikes and as I'm growing older and ready to start a family I wanted to pick up a fun sports car to fill the void as I phase out of my sportbike passion (not completely, keeping my favorite 2 bikes). I've been a Porsche fan but never an owner so a 911 was my immediate go to. I envisioned a nice air cooled 911 as I my first two cars growing up were old VW beetles but, to my surprise, the values on those cars are waaaayyy higher than I remember them being! So the hunt for a 996 ensued. As soon as I drove my first one I was instantly in love. After months of searching I landed a mint 2001 in Rain Forest Green over Savannah Beige. Full service history, IMS done 100 miles ago, new clutch, 0 range 2's in the DME, passed the PPI w/ flying colors, etc. The shop that did the PPI said it's one of the nicest 996's they've seen in a long time. Anyway, looking forward to engaging in the 996 and Porsche community. Cheers everyone.

Welcome to the club.
If you're wanting to fill the performance void - you may want to consider joining the local PCA - Florida Citrus PCA. They (we) are pretty involved with HPDE's. Tons of great people and a great (if I say so myself) pool of instructors if needed.
First Monday of every month the club gets together at Porsche of Orlando then has dinner and drinks right after. The 3rd Monday is Porsche night at Ace Cafe.
Lots of good indy shops around as well....

Thank you for the info. I fully intend to look into the local PCA group and would love to do a trackday. It's weird to feel nervous about doing a trackday in a car after doing so many on the bikes. I work right around the corner from Ace Cafe and might try to make it over there tonight despite not having the car yet.
