To be honest, I’m not sure if key in or key out matters. I feel better with the key out. You may find it handy to put the key back in to unlock the steering column, but I’ve never had to in many steering wheel and airbag jobs. I just use a 1/4 inch socket with a torx and short extension, and it works great.

Yes. It is a milled aluminum work of art, with functionality to match.

  • forgot to get 3M flue tape to fix the "shooting foam" while head unit is out, so ordered it.
  • Metra HVAC relocation trim just doesn't fit well, so ordered Porsche parts from Rod @Car Audio Innovations in the hope that it will fit better. Rod shipped it within 30 minutes of ordering on a Saturday, can't ask for more.
So the car is a mess and probably will be for at least another week or so....
Get a wireless backup camera, no need to fish wires.

Replaced my windshield washer fluid pump, and rejuvenated the seals.

Tomorrow, I plan to clean my radiators.

Default Slowly bringing her back to 2002

It was a good week for my 2002 996 C4 w/ 48K miles !!

Today:
- LED Light Upgrade - nice to actually be able to see the inside at night
- 997 Short Shift Upgrade - short shift is an awesome upgrade (not as pretty as some of the others mentioned in this thread) - instructions are definitely lacking, but no issues

This Week (Mostly shop work):
- Ohlins R&T - great upgrade
- Replaced original coolant tank before it failed
- New engine mounts
- Replaced fluids
- New coils and spark plugs
- New drive belt

Next Week:
- Rennline Pedal Upgrade

Ah... Feels like a new car !! Now I need to find a DE/AutoX to break it in !

Any recommendations? My experience has been as follows...

PEARL: Out of business, a little concerned to buy with no tech support
ZUS: I bought 2, then installed and they worked great for a few weeks. Now won't hold a charge and are useless.

Thanks!

+1. I'm not a fan of their shift cables but the shifter is amazing.

Need to pull the bearing seal and reseal the flange, then change the RMS. Pulled everything off to long block form for inspection and cleaning...Anything else while I'm here?

Lock the engine at TDC and use the cam locking tools, but you already know that. New micro-encapsulated bolts for the IMS flange?

Yah, part of the growing parts list...Is there an o-ring needed behind the big nut or any sealer need on the flange?
